I crossed 500 followers on devto faster than on medium in 2 months.
Under the Hood
I have been writing on the medium since January 2021, it’s been almost 2 years and my total follower count is hardly reached 500. I am still 36 less from reaching 500 milestones.
Whereas I’ve gained almost 500 followers on another platform for developers dev.to. I started posting content on devto actively in the last 2 months and luckily I’ve gained a bit of traction and traffic.
I didn’t do much or any different on devto than on medium, the content is the same but still gets followers and comments, and responses are way better on devto than on medium.
Probably because the medium is not for developers at all it’s more about writing and earning on so-called common topics just like Tim Denning.
Should I Stop Medium?
No need to stop writing on medium, after all, the medium has wide audiences. Instead, start sharing your content on devto also.
All you need to do is to copy-paste the same content from medium to devto editors. But medium use block-styled editors unlike devto which provides markdown editors, so copy-pasting won’t work as expected you need to twist some changes.
Idea
I have an idea in mind to create a centralised editor to help convert the blog into markdown, HTMl, block-scoped, and even Twitter threads. The only issue is we don’t know how to monetise and…
